A Visit with the Tattoo Shaman

I recently had the privilege of accompanying one of my dearest friends on her sojourn to our trusted Tattoo Shaman. She had a tattoo designed by the Sacred Tattoo Artist, Jen Shakti, to commemorate a spiritual milestone on her initiate Path.

Shaman Shakti provides her clients with altar building tools, to create sacred space  at the beginning of a session. This Altared Space is Lisa S. Gentry’s altar from that day. It includes her SELF BOX from her Sacred Circle Alchemy training, inspirational spirit stones, Brigid’s Cross, and tarot cards to create a vortex of energy inviting in the Spirits that were called upon that day.

Do you have a beautiful altar, live in Southern California, and have a story you’d like to share with me?  If so, contact me at pamela@salisspiritus.com. Follow me on Instagram @salisspiritus to see all of my wonderful offerings.

How do you get yourself going when you get ready to start your day?

I activate my altar! It is the hub of my studio and is where I go first. I light the candles, light the incense, and make sure my water vessel is full…then I may say prayers, work with my Sacred Circle Bundle, pull Tarot, or do Journeywork to meet the Archetypes. I get a feeling deep down in my bones when I’m ready to start my day, and then I surrender to the process.

How do you start your day?  Feel free to share in the comments.

Until We Meet Again,

Rev. Pamela Dawn

The True Essence Mandala Stone is a unique opportunity to give yourself some self-care and inspiration. As a ritual in Stage 3 of Sacred Circle Alchemy, it fits into a larger body of self-reflective knowledge…but anyone can do the following meditation and art creation project with rewarding effects that could last your lifetime. By finding out what your True Essence is, you can live more authentically–coming from who you truly are, rather than your conditioning.

STEP 1.  Gather up a larger round stone, metallic Sharpies, some scratch paper, a pen and pencil. Perhaps also a clipboard or book to write/draw atop after meditation.

STEP 2.  Find yourself some quiet alone time for 45 minutes.

STEP 3.  Sit down comfortably to meditate with your art supplies and scratch paper at hand.

STEP 4.  Ask to connect with Source in whatever way feels right to you.

STEP 5.  Then ask the Divine: “What is my True Essence?” over and over again until you have all your answers. They will be one-word responses, such as – creative, strong, meek, etc. And they will always be something you consider positive.

STEP 6.  Write down all of the one-word responses in the form of:

Such as –

I am creative

I am strong

I am meek

STEP 7.  Say all of those True Essence Declarations to yourself out-loud in the mirror.

STEP 8.  Then, using your scratch paper, place your stone on top of it and trace it. You can now use this test circle to draw a mock-up of your Mandala.

STEP 9.  Decide what symbol you want to place in the center of your Mandala. Perhaps your astrological sign, or some other shape you hold dear. Draw that at the center of your circle then draw a circle around the shape.

STEP 10.  Make up symbols for your True Essence words. You can make sigils, look around on the Internet for runes, or alchemical symbols, or other shapes that appeal to you.

STEP 11.  Then the easiest way to start is by using your pencil to separate your circle into a pie! Draw as many diagonals as you’d like, to fit the symbols you are using.

STEP 12.  Then draw “petals” to contain the symbols (see pic below), by using many of the “pie” pieces at the center to make very few “petals” and then adding on more as you make your way out toward the rim of the circle.

STEP 13.  Fill in the “petals” with your symbols! And voila! True Essence Mandala Stone.

STEP 14.  Whisper your True Essence Declarations into the Stone before use and then keep your list someplace you can read often.

STEP 15.  You can now use your Stone as a meditative focal point, inspirational touch-stone at work, altar piece, reminder of your awesomeness, or anything else magical.

  My New Strength

“Today on Spring Equinox, I made a Paradigm shift…I let go…allowed things to unfold in whatever way they must, relaxed into the unknown, lived the flow and did not force anything to happen. I am here. I have arrived at the door of Wisdom and I will step through. I vow to not fall into old patterns…and to swim in the flow.” -Wisdom Book Entry

These Altar-ed Spaces are from today’s Within the Sacred Circle EAST Ritual Workshop. In mystical space the Keepers did a Soul Retrieval and Birthing Ceremony, and spoke to the Divine Midwife about their purpose for this year and their new strength…thank you ladies for coming and doing the work.

I hope this day of equal light and darkness has brought forth your own inner balance. Here’s a meditation suggestion from Within the Sacred Circle: Go within and ask the Divine Archetype of the Midwife to come forth and let you know what your purpose is for 2016. Then ask her what new strength She can bestow upon you to help you fulfill this purpose. See what unfolds.
Until We Meet Again, Many Blessings,

Rev. Pamela Dawn

This is the altar of Jen Shakti, the revolutionary tattoo artist who has changed the landscape of her art-form by creating a new platform by which to receive body art: Sacred Tattooing. On her site http://www.mermaidtale.net she explains, “It is my great gift to have the vision to take your idea and create a permanent talisman to remember for life.” In her sessions she includes altar building, purification, anointing, invocation of the Spirits she works with, and shamanic music to illuminate your experience.
Here on her altar she reveals the source of her inspiration, energies with which she is working, totems who help her, her beloved Mesa, and messages from the Divine. It is facing the East in her sanctuary, the place of inspiration and creative thought. She conducts her morning practice there, and it acts as a vortex to attract powerful wisdom to all that she does.

Do you have an Altar-ed Space in your home that you’d like to have featured on my blog? Please contact me at: pamela@salisspiritus.com to tell me about it.

Until we meet again.

Many blessings,

Rev. Pamela Dawn

Happy Spring Equinox! Today is the mid-point of Spring when the Divine Feminine of the Maiden and the Midwife bless us with their presence. Today, I was gifted with the knowledge that my purpose is to: “Create Mystical Experiences that Connect People to God/dess!” So I wanted to start my new blog today with that purpose in mind. I have been thinking about making a blog dedicated to

Altar-ed Spaces: Creating Divine Places, where I could showcase altars and talk about those who created them…so I’m going to start that today! Here! Welcome to the new blog of Salis Spiritus…where I will create mystical experiences on the Internet to help you connect with Source. Aho!
